Humanities Studies
What is Humanities? Comparative Humanities is the Liberal Arts degree at EKU. Humanities is the study of value in human life. The study of the way that human beings create and share meaning as individuals, communities, cultures, and across cultures through time. Humanities fields include art and literature, philosophy and religion, history, music, dance, and more. Humanities is the place where these fields come together. Why Humanities? A degree in Comparative Humanities offers breadth of knowledge and understanding alongside a deep focus in a particular period, discipline, or area of study. With breadth and depth, students learn to synthesize knowledge. In Humanities you follow your own course of study, pursuing courses in a wide range of departments according to your own interests. Humanities makes an ideal second major for teachers who want to teach Arts and Humanities and for everyone who wants to show their employers that they have had a broad Liberal Arts education.
