Minor in Humanities
The Minor in Humanities is designed both for students majoring in Secondary Education, who want to prepare themselves to teach the new Arts and Humanities course which is now required for high schools graduation, and also for students who want to support other majors with a rich interdisciplinary experience of the arts and humanities.
When the major and the minor require the same courses, three hours may be waived from the minor upon the recommendation of the Chair of the Department of Foreign Languages and Humanities.
The following courses are required to complete the Humanities minor:
| HUM 124, HUM 226 or HUM 228, HUM 300 | 9 credit hrs |
| REL 301 or one FCC (Foreign Culture and Civilization) | 3 credit hrs |
| Upper division Art History | 3 credit hrs |
| ENG 335, THE 390, THE 391, or THE 430 | 3 credit hrs |
| MUS 272, 371, or 372 | 6 credit hrs |
| PHE 200* or upper division Philosohphy (PHI) | 3 credit hrs |
* Students who plan to teach humanities in the public schools should select this course.
